What is a sovereign language model?
A sovereign language model is an AI model you own and run under your own jurisdiction – with your own weights, your own training-data provenance, and hosting inside your own borders or the EEA. Nothing is orchestrated through a foreign, closed model under external law.
Is Od1n a European alternative to US AI providers?
Yes. Od1n is developed and hosted in Europe (EEA), with no part of the model layer under US jurisdiction. For organisations concerned about the US CLOUD Act and data sovereignty, Od1n keeps the entire chain – from training data to output – under European control.
How does Od1n perform against larger models?
In our benchmarks, Od1n V5 (3B) ranks 3rd of 7 and beats larger models from Google (Gemma-9B), Meta (Llama-8B) and Alibaba (Qwen-3B) on Norwegian. On Norwegian public-sector text it also beats NorMistral-7B – a model more than twice its size. These are internal measurements, not third-party verified.
Is Od1n GDPR-compliant?
Od1n is hosted within the EEA, and data stays in Europe. It is built for GDPR compliance from the ground up, with full control over sensitive information and no data sharing with global cloud services. It is also well positioned for the EU AI Act.
Can Od1n run on-premise?
Yes. Od1n is suited to on-premise and private-cloud deployment, so your organisation keeps full control over its own infrastructure and data. Because it is a compact 3B model, it runs on ordinary hardware – not a server room.
